수원특례시의회, “기후마법학교가 수원시 환경교육의 대표 브랜드가 되기를”

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=수원 이현준기자] 수원특례시의회 채명기 환경안전위원장은 10일 수원시청에서 열린 ‘찾아가는 수원 기후마법학교 시연회’에 참석해 신규 제작된 이동환경교실 수소전기버스와 체험형 교육 프로그램을 점검했다.

2018년부터 시작된 기존 ‘찾아가는 수원이 환경교실’은 지난 8년간 1천3백여 학급, 3만5천여 명이 참여하며 높은 호응을 얻었으나, 내구연한이 경과된 차량을 이동환경교실로 활용하는 데 따른 안전 및 환경 문제가 제기됐다.

이에 환경안전위원회는 2023년 행정사무감사를 통해 수원이 환경교실을 환경친화적 차량으로 교체할 것을 요구하고, 예산 및 수소차 확보 경과를 지속적으로 점검해왔다.

차량 출고 지연으로 사업이 미뤄지기도 했으나, 마침내 1년 10개월 간의 준비를 거쳐 수소전기버스를 기반으로 한 “찾아가는 수원 기후마법학교”가 탄생했다.
