시흥시, ‘(가칭)시흥과학고 학교복합시설’ 교육부 공모 최종 선정

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=시흥 이현준기자] 시흥시는 교육부가 주관한 ‘2025년 학교복합시설 공모사업’에 (가칭)시흥과학고학교복합시설이 최종 선정됐다고 8일밝혔다.

이번 선정으로 시흥시는 배곧누리초, 소래초, 장현1초에 이어 4번째 학교복합시설을 확보하게 됐으며, 이는 전국 최초로 특수목적고등학교(과학고)와 연계한 학교복합시설이 조성된다는 점에서 의미를 더한다.

시는 오는 2029년 개교 예정인 시흥과학고와 동일 시점에 복합시설도 개관할 수 있도록 행정 역량을 집중할 계획이다. 시흥과학고는 바이오·생명과학 및 인공지능(AI) 특화 교육과정을 중심으로 운영되며, 복합시설 역시 해당 분야를 체험하고 학습할 수 있는 융합교육 공간으로 조성된다.
