[브레이크뉴스경기남부=안성 이현준기자] 안성시는 아양택지지구 내 도시바람길숲 조성사업의 일환으로 추진한 ‘금석천 도시바람길숲’을 지난 5월 30일에 준공했다고 밝혔다.

시는 이번 숲 조성을 통해 도심지 내 쾌적한 휴식 공간이 마련되면서 도시 환경 개선은 물론 시민 정서 함양에도 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.

도시바람길숲 조성사업은 기후위기 심화와 저탄소 경제로의 전환에 대응해 탄소중립 실현, 기후변화 적응, 미세먼지 저감 및 도시열섬현상 완화를 목적으로 추진됐다. 이와 함께 도시경관을 개선하고 시민에게 산책 및 휴식이 가능한 친환경 공간을 제공하는 데 중점을 두고 있다.

금석천 도시바람길숲은 메타세콰이어 551주, 청단풍 217주, 왕벚나무 56주, 남천 6,320주, 흰말채나무 18,680주 등 교·관목으로 조성되었고 양안의 총연장은 1km이며, 조성 구간은 크게 4곳으로 나누어져 있어 각기 다른 다양한 테마를 느낄 수 있다.

이 외에도 시민들의 편의를 위해 맨발 걷기를 위한 세족대, 퍼걸러, 등의자 등 각종 휴식 시설도 함께 설치돼 도심 속 여가 공간으로서의 기능도 겸비하고 있다.
