[브레이크뉴스경기남부=광명 이현준기자] 광명시가 한국철도공사와 KTX광명역 일원 복합개발을 위한 첫발을 디뎠다.

시는 5일 시청 중회의실에서 ‘KTX광명역 일원 개발구상 및 타당성 조사 용역 착수보고회’를 열고 본격적인 개발 절차에 돌입했다.

이번 용역은 광명시와 한국철도공사가 지난해 10월 체결한 ‘KTX광명역 철도부지 복합개발 성공적추진을 위한 업무협약’에 따른 후속 조치로, 시와 공사는 그간 실무협의회를 구성해 공동 용역을 준비해 왔다.

이번 사업 대상지는 한국철도공사 소유 KTX광명역 A주차장 부지 약 2만 6천㎡이다.

대상지가 포함된 KTX광명역 일원은 2024년 7월 국토교통부 공모사업인 ‘공간혁신구역 선도사업’ 후보지로 선정된 지역이다. 공간혁신구역 선도사업 대상지는 토지 건축물 허용 용도와 건폐율·용적률 규제에 자유로워 융복합 도시개발이 가능한 특례구역이다.

시는 이번 용역에 이 같은 호재를 충분히 반영해 KTX광명역세권을 명실상부한 국제·행정업무 중심지로 개발할 청사진을 그릴 방침이다.

향후 시와 공사는 이곳에상업·업무시설 등 다양한 기능을 복합해 도심 성장거점으로 조성할 계획이다.

이번 용역으로 개발 가이드라인이 마련되면 한국철도공사는 공간혁신구역 복합개발을 추진하고, 광명시는 공간혁신구역 지정, 도시관리계획 변경, 관련 인허가 등 행정절차를 지원할 방침이다.
