정명근 화성시장이 19일 화성소방서 대회의실에서 열린 제3회 의용소방대의 날 기념식에 참석해 각종 재난으로부터 화성시민의 생명과 재산을 보호하기 위해 노력하는 의용소방대원의 노고를 격려했다.

화성시 의용소방대는 소방활동을 보조하는 일반인으로 구성된 자원봉사단체로 현재 31개 대 800여 명의 의용소방대원들이 화성시민의 안전을 위해 활동하고 있다.

이날 기념식에는 정 시장을 비롯해 의용소방대원 250명, 시·도의원, 소방공무원 40명 등이 참석해 자리를 빛냈다.

행사는 내빈소개, 국민의례, 유공자 표창 수여, 축사 등의 순서로 진행됐으며, 정 시장은 의용소방대원 80명에게 유공자 표창을 수여했다.

화성시 의용소방대는 올해도 화재진화·순찰 및 재난예방(홍보, 캠페인 등)활동, 시민 대상 심폐소생술 교육 등을 이어가며 화성시 안전 파수꾼으로 활약할 예정이다.
