Lee Jae-myeong “It is impossible to steal because there is nothing to eat. Just give it all”

Gyeonggi Province Governor Lee Jae-myeong visited the “Gyeonggi Foods Just Dream Corner” to support those in an emergency livelihood crisis due to Corona 19, and called for generous support, saying, “It is impossible to steal because there is nothing to eat.”

Governor Lee Jae-myeong visited the Gwangmyeong Food Market in Gwangmyeong-dong, Gwangmyeong-si, which operates the “Gyeonggi Foods Just Dream Corner” on the 4th to hear the operation status and review the usage process. Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won, Assemblyman Lim Oh-kyung, Do lawmaker Kim Young-joon, Gyeonggi-do Social Welfare Council Chairman Ki-tae Kang, and Park Young-soon, head of the Gwangmyeong Food Bank and Market Center were also present.

Governor Lee said about the opportunity to start'Gyeonggi Food Just Dream', “I heard from the police that there are many people who are caught stealing because they have nothing to eat, and asked for opinions on how to prevent it by posting a social network service (SNS). They said that it would be better to give them,” he said. “If you have to use this place, you are actually eligible for support. Even if it is a little abused, if you come to this place, you can just pay it all and check if you come again.”

Governor Lee said, “It is not formally the target, but there are people who actually need to apply, so it will have the effect of discovering such cases.” He emphasized.

The Gyeonggi Foods Just Dream Corner of the Municipal Gwangmyeong Food Market, which has been in operation since December 29 last year, has supported a total of 15 types of food such as instant rice, ramen, and canned tuna from a large-scale food bank and has been used by 32 people so far.

Do is operating the “Gyeonggi Foods Just Dream Corner” in three food markets located in Gwangmyeong, Seongnam and Pyeongtaek. The food market is a place where food and household goods are donated from companies and individuals and provided to low-income and vulnerable groups who are in danger of being hungry.

When residents who urgently need food and daily necessities visit a food market business site, five kinds of donated items in the business place, such as instant bread, beverages, masks, and hygiene products, will be provided once. After that, if the visitor agrees, the list is notified to the relevant eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare center to support additional welfare services. The province is planning to install and operate the “Gyeonggi Foods Just Dream Corner” by selecting one of the welfare facilities such as comprehensive, disabled, and elderly welfare centers by 31 cities and counties this month.

In addition, two homeless facilities in Bucheon-si and Uijeongbu-si installed “Gyeonggi Gyeonggi Food Just Dream Refrigerator” during this month to provide free rice cakes once a day per person until the day the day runs out. Five homeless facilities in Suwon, Seongnam, Anyang, Ansan, and Siheung provide food coupons to homeless people who have difficulty visiting the facilities.

On the other hand, Gyeonggi Governor Lee Jae-myeong said in his social network service (SNS) last November, “The growing corona long hair… We look forward to your suggestions,” asking for opinions from the people. Governor Lee said, “Jangbaljang, who has no choice but to steal bread due to hunger, is now becoming our neighbor. That is what the state and society should do.”
