이번 사업은 총연장 6.5km의 방산로 가운데 1.03km 구간을 확장ㆍ포장한 공사로, 약 150억 원의 사업비를 투입해 2023년 9월 착공 이후 약 2년 3개월 만에 완료됐다.

그간 해당 구간은 도로 폭이 좁아 차량 교행이 불가능하고 인도가 없어 보행 안전 문제가 지속적으로 제기돼 왔다. 또한, 신천과 인접한 저지대 구간은 제방과 배수시설이 미비해 장마철마다 상습 침수가 발생하는 등 주민 불편이 컸다.
