평택시, 베트남 다낭시와 ‘우호교류합의서 교환식’ 개최

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=평택 이현준기자] 평택시와 다낭시가 ‘우호교류합의서 교환식’을 11일 진행했다.

이 자리에서 정장선 평택시장과 응우옌 반 꽝(Nguyen Van Quang) 다낭시 당서기는 이재명 대통령과 또 럼(To Lam) 베트남 서기장이 지켜보는 가운데 합의서를 교환했다.

평택시와 다낭시는 지난 4월에도 우호교류합의서를 체결한 바 있으나 다낭시가 지난 7월 중앙직할시로 승격됨에 따라 이번 교환식이 다시 마련됐다.

정상회담에서는 흔치 않게 지방정부 간 교류 행사가 개최된 것은 양국이 국가 간 협력의 폭과 깊이를 지방정부까지 확대하겠다는 의도로 풀이된다. 실제로 평택시와 다낭시의 협력 체계는 한국과 베트남의 다층적 외교 네트워크를 견고히 하는 계기가 될 것으로 기대된다.

두 도시의 합의 내용도 4월에 비해 확대되고 구체화 됐다. 지난 합의서에 담은 경제·교육·문화·체육 분야 외에도 미래산업 및 환경 분야에서의 협력이 포함됐으며, 양 도시 자유무역지대 개발 지원과 촉진, 반도체·인공지능 등 첨단산업 분야 협력 강화 등 구체적인 내용도 합의서에 담겼다.

평택시와 다낭시는 이번 교환식을 계기로 양 도시의 지속 가능한 발전을 위한 구체적인 사업을 속도감 있게 추진한다는 방침이다.

이와 관련해 정장선 시장과 다낭시 서열 1위인 응우옌 반 꽝 당서기는 교환식 하루 전 서울에서 만나 간담회를 진행하며 향후 실행계획을 논의했다.

간담회에서 양측은 △반도체·자유무역지구 분야 전문가 파견 △정례 교류회 개최 △탄소중립 등 환경 분야 협력 확대 등에 의견을 모았다.

정장선 시장은 “베트남의 성장 가능성이 커지고, 우리나라와 상생할 수 있는 부분이 많아 평택시는 다낭시와 땀끼시 등 베트남의 주요 도시와 신뢰를 쌓아왔다”면서 “국가정상급 외교 무대에서 지방정부의 교류 행사가 진행된 것도 두 정부가 각 지역과 산업 현장에서의 실질적인 협력이 필요하다고 인식하기 때문”이라고 설명했다.

이어 정 시장은 “평택시는 다낭시와 적극 협력해 공동의 이익을 창출해 내는 등 지방정부 간의 모범적인 협력 사례를 만들어가겠다”라고 전했다.

한편, 다낭시는 지난 7월 1일 베트남의 행정 개편에서 꽝남성과 통합돼 중앙직할시로 승격된 바 있다. 통합에 따라 다낭시의 면적은 1만 1860㎢로 기존보다 10배 가까이 증가해 경기도 면적(1만 200㎢)보다 커졌고, 인구도 127만 명에서 300만 명으로 증가했다.
