용인특례시, 13번째 자매도시 충북 괴산군과 협약 체결

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=용인 이현준기자] 용인특례시는 24일 충청북도 괴산군과 자매결연을 맺고, 지역 간 교류와 상생 발전을 위해 협력하기로 했다.

괴산군청 대회의실에서 열린 협약식에는 이상일 용인특례시장과 송인헌 괴산군수를 비롯해 두 도시의 관계 공무원 등 20여명이 참석했다.

협약식에 앞서 이상일 시장과 송인헌 군수는 환담을 나누며 두 도시간 협력 방안을 논의했으며, 이어 협약서에 서명했다.

송인헌 군수는 “첨단시스템반도체 국가산단 등 첨단산업과 문화가 융합된 수도권 핵심 도시인 용인특례시와 산림이 면적의 76%를 차지하고 전국 최고 품질의 농축산물을 생산하는 청정 농촌 지역인 괴산군이 상생 발전을 위해 손을 맞잡게 된 것을 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 “괴산군은 현재 인구 3만 6000명의 인구 감소 지역이지만, 특색 있는 축제와 관광자원을 바탕으로 지난해 누적 생활인구 352만 명을 기록하는 등 지방 소멸 문제 해결을 위한 새로운 해법을 모색하고 있다”고 말했다.

송 군수는 “이러한 시점에 용인특례시와 괴산군이 협력을 통해 인구 감소와 지역 불균형이라는 국가적 과제 해결에 함께 기여해 나가길 기대한다”고 덧붙였다.

이상일 시장은 “괴산군은 인구 감소라는 국가적 과제에 대응하기 위해 많은 노력을 기울이고 있고, 용인특례시는 인구감소 지역과의 상생 협력을 적극 모색해 왔다"며 “청정한 자연을 잘 보존하고 유기농 산업엑스포를 두 차례나 개최한 대한민국 최고의 유기농 생산지인 괴산군과 자매결연을 맺게 것을 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”고 말했다.
