용인특례시, 남사읍 북리삼거리 좌회전 차로 확장 완료

[브레이크뉴스경기남부=용인 이현준기자] 용인특례시는 처인구 남사읍 북리삼거리에 기존 1차로였던 좌회전 차로를 2차로로 확장하는 공사를 완료했다고 18일 밝혔다.

이 구간은 오산시와 용인특례시 남사읍·이동읍을 연결하는 도로로, 왕복 2차로여서 좌회전 차량과 이동읍 방면 우회전 차량이 뒤섞이면서 상습적인 교통 정체가 발생하던 구간이다.

시는 교통 혼잡 해소를 위해 시비 7000만원을 투입해 지난 3월 공사를 시작했으며 7월에 마무리 했다. 

이번 공사는 기존 도로를 최대한 활용하고, 주변의 여유 공간으로 남아 있던 국‧공유지를 정비해 도로를 새로 개설하지 않고서도 단기간에 적은 예산으로 도로 개선 효과를 봤다.

시는 또 신호등을 눈에 잘 띄는 위치로 옮기고 횡단보도 표지판을 설치해 운전자와 보행자의 안전을 강화했다.

이번 차로 확장으로 좌회전 대기 차량과 우회전 차량이 분리돼 차량 흐름이 개선되면서 교통 혼잡이 상당정도 해소될 것으로 기대된다.

이상일 시장은 “남사읍 북리 삼거리를 포함한 상습 정체 구간에 대한 교통체계 개선 사업을 8곳에서 진행 중”이라며 “시민들의 교통 불편 해소와 안전 확보를 위해 개선이 필요한 지역을 지속적으로 발굴해서 정비해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
