[브레이크뉴스경기남부= 수원오경희기자] 임태희 경기도교육감이 경기도교육청미래과학교육원 개최 ‘2024년 하반기 전국과학교육원장협의회’에 참석했다.

31일 라마다 프라자 수원 호텔에서 열린 이날 협의회에서 임 교육감은 “과학기술은 인간이 가지고 있는 가장 핵심적인 역량이며, 과학기술을 통해 인류는 결국 우주를 선도해갈 것”이라고 말했다. 

임 교육감은 “과학기술은 인간의 가장 핵심적인 역량이기에 우리 학생들이 살아갈 미래 시대를 대비한 과학교육은 지금 어때야 하는지, 인류 역사에서 대한민국의 과학교육이 어떻게 이루어져야 하는지에 대해 고민해야 한다”고 강조했다.

이어 “과거 사회의 쟁점이 되는 문제들이 과학기술의 힘으로 해결이 된 것처럼 인류 생활에 근본적인 변화를 가져오는 건 과학기술의 영향이 크기 때문”이라고 말했으며 특히 “과학교육은 지역의 경계선을 고려할 필요 없이 넘어서야 한다”면서 “시도는 물론 국가의 경계선도 넘어서 대화하고 협력할 수 있는 부분”이라고 말했다.

‘2024년 하반기 전국과학교육원장협의회’는 전국 17개 시도 과학교육원장과 업무담당자, 교육청 관계자 등 90여 명이 참석한 가운데 진행됐다.

이번 협의회에서는 각 시도 과학교육원이 2024년 추진하는 과학교육 사업 현안, 특색 사업 진행을 통해 얻은 성과 등을 공유하며 차후 실행할 과학교육 프로그램에 대한 다양한 아이디어를 모색하는 시간을 가졌다.

전국과학교육원장협의회는 전국 17개 과학교육원이 현안 과제에 대해 협의하여 문제를 해결하고, 과학교육원 간의 정보 공유를 통해 과학교육 발전 방안을 모색하기 위한 협의체로서 매년 상‧하반기로 주관 기관을 달리해 개최한다.
