시는 그간 병원의 조속한 건립 추진을 위해 서울대병원, 서울대학교 등 관련기관과 함께 중앙부처와의 협의를 지속해서 진행했다. 그 결과, 공사비 571억 원이 증액돼 총사업비 5,883억 원이 확정됐다.

시흥배곧서울대병원 건립사업은 사전 행정절차를 이행하고, 올해 안에 입찰공고를 시행해 내년에 착공할 예정이다.

임병택 시흥시장은 “시흥배곧서울대병원(가칭) 건립사업은 서울대학교 시흥캠퍼스 2단계 사업의 핵심이자, 글로벌 바이오 생태계 조성의 중추 사업이다. 신속한 건립을 통해 산ㆍ학ㆍ연ㆍ병ㆍ관이 집적된 혁신 클러스터 구축에 속도를 낼 것”이라고 밝혔다.
