[Break News Gyeonggi Nambu = Suwon Reporter Eun-kyung Han] The Suwon Museum announced on the 12th that it had applied to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to award awards to seven socialist independence activists in the Suwon area.

The seven people who applied for the award for independence meritorious people are independence activists who discovered their achievements through the ‘Gyeonggi-do Independence Movement Person Excavation Project’ conducted jointly by the Suwon Museum and Suwon Research Center from 2017 to 2018. I applied for a reward for 15 people in 2019, and I applied for a second reward on August 10 by organizing and supplementing the data.

They participated in the socialist independence movement as individuals who had been in the independence movement, but had not received a reward application in the meantime. In the process of reassessing and organizing the activities of the Suwon Museum, the descendants could not be identified, so the city of Suwon applied for a reward on behalf of the descendants.

Hong Young-yu (the anti-imperialist anti-imperialist incident), Kim Gil-jun, Kang Seong-moon, and Cha Jun-seok (formed the Suwon Art Museum), Hong Woon-pyo (the Chosun Communist Party Reconstruction Movement incident), Han In-taek and Choi Seok-gyu (the secret society small group incident), all seven were young people who fought for socialist independence. .

Hong Young-yu, who was a student at Central High School, was arrested and sentenced to one year and six months in prison for the anti-imperialist anti-imperialist exclamation case.

Gil-jun Kim, Seong-moon Kang, and Jun-seok Cha were sentenced to between 3 and 5 years in prison for forming the Suwon Art Hoseo Research Club in 1939 and spreading rumors for the purpose of independence from Joseon in October 1941. Hong Jong-cheol, who worked with them, received the title of Aejok in 2009 after his descendants were confirmed.

In 1934, Hong Un-pyo participated in the reconstruction movement of the Korean Communist Party and was sentenced to one year and six months in prison, while Han In-taek and Choi Seok-gyu, while attending Gyeongseong Agricultural School, organized a 'secret association' aimed at the independence of Joseon, and were arrested and expelled from prison. have been punished

Independence activists who have applied for awards by the Suwon Museum will be judged by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in the future to decide whether or not they are of merit for independence. Descendants are identified at the national level, and data on their actions are more closely investigated.

Since the descendants of independence activists have limitations in personally discovering the activities of their predecessors and highlighting their achievements, the Suwon Museum is continuously conducting the independence movement excavation project and applying for rewards.

Kim Hyang-hwa, who led the national independence movement of Suwon gisaengs (2009 Presidential Citation), Lee Seon-kyung, 'Suwon's Yu Gwan-sun,' who died at the age of 19 while leading the secret society movement (2012 patriot chief), Lee Seon-kyung Moonsoon Choi (Presidential Citation in 2018) is a prime example.

Suwon independence activists such as Yoo Byung-gi (Foundation Medal), (Gu Hyeon-seo, Jang Ju-moon, Jeong Cheong-san, Cha Gye-yeong, Choi Gyeong-chang (Aejok chief), Park Ki-seo, Hong Jong-gap, Hong Jong-rye (Presidential Citation), etc. It has led to commendation of nine people of merit.

An official from the Suwon City Museum project said, “Thanks to the dedication of the independence activists, descendants are living while protecting the identity of the Republic of Korea. We will discover them with the help of the world, apply for a reward, and let the world know about them.”
