[브레이크뉴스경기남부=용인 김정은기자] 용인에서 횟집을 비롯한 수입 수산물을 취급하는 업소 대다수가 원산지 표시 의무를 준수하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.
용인시는 바다 먹거리 안전에 대한 시민들의 우려를 불식시키기 위해 원산지 표시 특별단속을 진행, 2건의 가벼운 위반 사례를 찾아내 계도했다고 30일 밝혔다.
단속은 지난달 15일부터 지난 27일까지 경기도와 합동으로 담당 공무원, 원산지 표시 감시원 등 13명을 투입해 수입 수산물 취급업소 700곳을 대상으로 진행했다.
특히 참돔, 가리비, 우렁쉥이(멍게) 등 일본산 수산물을 국내산으로 둔갑시키거나 중국산 수산물을 일본산과 섞어 유통 또는 판매하는지 여부를 중점적으로 살폈다.
이외에 소비자에게 혼동을 주는 원산지 표시 방법, 원산지 기재 영수증ㆍ거래증빙자료 비치 여부도 점검했다.
시는 앞으로도 정기적으로 각 업체들을 점검해 원산지 허위표기 업소에 대해서는 사법기관에 고발 조치와 함께 과징금 등 강력한 행정 처분을 내릴 방침이다.
시 관계자는 "수산물을 구입할 때는 반드시 원산지를 확인하고, 의심되는 경우 즉시 신고해주시길 바란다"며 "시민들이 안심하고 먹거리를 구매할 수 있는 환경을 만들기 위해 주기적으로 단속하고 살펴 나가겠다"고 말했다.
한편 단속결과 원산지를 거짓으로 표시한 경우 ‘농수산물의 원산지 표시에 관한 법률’에 따라 7년 이하 징역 또는 1억원 이하의 벌금형을 받을 수 있다. 원산지를 표시하지 않은 경우엔 5만원 이상 1000만원 이하의 과태료가 부과된다.
