[Break News Gyeonggi Nambu = Suwon Correspondent Kim Jong-un] Gyeonggi-do is supplying indoor air purifiers to 250 intercity buses to create a pleasant atmosphere that residents can feel, and intensively managing daycare centers and elderly care facilities in areas where high concentrations of fine dust are emitted. We will promote measures to improve the air environment closely related to life, such as setting
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 11th that it will establish the ‘2022 Gyeonggi Air Environment Improvement Promotion Plan’ that includes these contents and implement 39 key tasks in 10 areas of the 4 strategies.
This plan is an annual short-term plan according to the ‘Gyeonggi Air Environment Management Implementation Plan (2020-2024)’ established last year. According to the ‘Air Management Area Act’, metropolitan cities and provinces must establish an implementation plan for air environment management every five years and obtain approval from the Minister of Environment.
From April this year to March next year, the province has set target concentrations of 39 ㎍/㎥ for fine dust (PM10), 20㎍/㎥ for ultrafine dust (PM2.5), 18 ppb for nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and 28 ppb for ozone (O3). Last year, the concentration was 42㎍/㎥ for fine dust (PM10), 21㎍/㎥ for ultrafine dust (PM2.5), 19ppb for nitrogen dioxide (NO2), and 29ppb for ozone (O3).
The province is promoting various new projects to create a pleasant air environment this year. First of all, we will proceed with the supply project of indoor air purifiers for intercity buses, which have proven their effectiveness through the demonstration project last year. The provincial government plans to install a bus-type air purifier on 250 intercity buses this year.
The bus-type air purifier filters indoor polluted air through pre-filter (removes large dust), carbon filter (removes odorous substances), HEPA filter (removes fine dust and ultra-fine dust), and UV-LED (sterilizes suspended bacteria and viruses). Change to clean air.
In addition, through the ‘Centralized Management Zone Support Project’, 10 cities and counties including Suwon City will support intensive management of facilities used by the vulnerable, such as daycare centers and elderly care facilities in high-concentration fine dust emission areas, such as near industrial complexes. Install a fine dust shelter, a simple meter, a fine dust suction mat, a smart air shower, and a window-mounted ventilation system to measure fine dust and to take prompt measures to reduce the concentration at high concentrations.
In addition, after conducting a survey and analysis of the air quality in large restaurant kitchens and farmhouses and country houses that use wood-fired boilers that generate a large amount of various harmful gases, they plan to come up with an improvement plan.
The provincial government has set up a total of four strategies: ▲ living areas, ▲ policy/cooperation, ▲ transportation, ▲ business site management, and reducing the concentration of emission sources. The total project cost of 39 sub-projects amounted to 574.4 billion won.
In the 'policy and cooperation' field strategy, the West Coast region (Gyeonggi·Incheon·Chungnam) ultra-wide air quality improvement project, Pyeongtaek-Dangjin port air quality improvement project, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP)-Gyeonggi·Seoul·Incheon air quality joint research, etc. promote
To expand the supply of pollution-free eco-friendly vehicles and reduce the operation of old diesel vehicles, the 'transport' sector strategy supports the supply of electric two-wheeled vehicles and electric excavators, and the diesel vehicle emission reduction project, and the 'business site management and emission source concentration reduction' strategy supports small business prevention facilities , and expansion of restricted areas for the use of high-concentration fuels (solid fuels, high sulfur oil, etc.)
The provincial government plans to actively cooperate with relevant departments and cities and counties to ensure that the strategies and projects reflected in this plan are carried out smoothly, and to manage and check the progress on a quarterly basis.
The head of Gyeonggi Fine Dust Countermeasures Division said, “This plan is an annual plan to achieve the goal of the Seoul Metropolitan Area Air Environment Implementation Plan, and aims to improve the air quality of Gyeonggi Province, which is poorer than other cities and provinces. We will do our best to provide safe and clean air from substances.”
